EarthGang – Rags [EP]

earthgang rags

The Atlanta duo, EarthGang, released a five-track heater of an EP last week titled RAGS.

Their most recent project sees Doctor Dot and Johnny Venus at their best, not wasting anytime getting into it with the introspective track “Meditate”, featuring dope production from Elite. The next track pits EarthGang with longtime collaborator and fellow Atlanta native, Childish Major, on the track “Nowhere Fast”. The cadence on this track is crazy, and it’s not hard to see why these dudes really shine over his production. Next comes “Red Light” prod. by Anonxmous. This track has hella groove to it, not to mention arguably the catchiest hook on the entire EP. The standout track in my opinion has to be the fourth cut, “Legendari”, again featuring production by Childish Major. Packed with emotion and soul, it proves that EarthGang can do much more than simply rap. The closeout track, “House”, produced collaboratively by Hollywood JB and Ron Gilmore, is a throwback to a different time for EarthGang. It takes us back to a time to before the lights and the tours. Thematically, this EP seems to highlight EarthGang’s “RAGS” to riches storyline, and gives us a look into a more personal side of where they came from as artists. Stream the EP below and tell a friend, this is definitely a standout in the group’s discography.
