The DMV’s music scene is without a doubt one of, if not the most promising underground scene right now. From solo artists to collectives and mind-melting boardslappers, it’s an audibly eclectic and overall pretty wild pool of talent.

One of the newer factions on the block is 800, comprised of interwoven groups of friends that over the past year or two has amalgamated into a locally-buzzing collective of music artists, visual artists, producers and more. From Steez800 and Mylon Moore (who I actually used to have photography class with in high school) to Kasey Jones (who used to be a writer for me at a blog I used to run), 800 is filled to the brim with budding talent and a whole lot of promise for the future.

They’re intricate, cerebral in every way and have a distinct creative vision (both visually and sonically) that they marvelously execute each time. It all culminates in their recently-released, debut project, Sad Moms, Angry Girlfriendswhich just came out a few days back.

From energy-filled posse cuts like “Tithe” to Mylon’s standout track “Swami & His Pride,”  800 comes correct all across the board on this joint. Listen to SMAGFS below & enjoy!
