A bill which will allow Chileans to grow small amounts of marijuana for medical or recreational use has finally been approved by the country’s house of Congress. The new bill will allow each Chilean home to grow up to six plants. Before this law was passed, planting, selling and transporting marijuana could have gotten you up to 15 years in prison. Members of the lower house approved the bill by a wide margin, with 68 in favor of the marijuana-related bill.
Growing trend
In the US, more than 20 states allow some form of medical marijuana to take place, and Colorado and Washington have legalized fully for personal use. Uruguay became the first country to create a legal marijuana market in 2013 and earlier this year Jamaica decriminalized personal use of the drug.
So for all you right winged, homophobic douche bags out there — you know it’s only a matter of time, right?
