Chris Patrick is only in his twenties, but on his debut project he proves that he already has more wisdom than someone twice his age. Today, the New Jersey rapper releases his first album, From The Heart, Vol. 2, and it’s a magnificent ending to a prolific 2020.
Patrick has been building hype for a minute now, he’s released four strong singles in the lead up to this debut. “Typical Shit,” one of those introductory singles, smooth as hell and features a highlight of a verse from Atlanta’s very own Deante’ Hitchcock. The versatility that Patrick possesses is nothing short of stunning. His storytelling talents are on full display on the inspirational “Dreams,” “3AM” and “Seattle Interlude”. These are all the kind of tracks that are just made for late nights.
Patrick been open with citing his influences. He’s listed J.I.D. and Black Thought as two of his favorite artists, but he also has the cool swagger and intellectual depth of Earl Sweatshirt, the crossover appeal of IDK, and the sheer inventiveness of Ab-Soul. Patrick can do all of these things, but he’s no imitator. He’s firmly in his own lane, carving out an artistic space that, soon no one will be able to ignore. Stream From The Heart, Vol. 2 down below. This is one of the standout projects in an already crowded musical year, so check this one out now.
