Push It To The Limit: The Lul Rose Q&A

Lul Rose is a vastly overlooked producer who has been a part of some of the underground’s brightest gems. Though the focus has never been to be one of the best unknowns. This brilliant maestro of the boards has a vision and after this Q&A it feels as if Rose wants to go down as one of the best producers to ever do it. We took some time a few weeks back to chop it up with this Detroit-native who is making some of the best production the state of Michigan has ever seen. We’ll get out of the way and let you get acquainted with this legend, but until the next peep it all below.

Where are you from and when did you first start producing?
I’m from Detroit, born and raised, I’ve been around music for a while, I have a cousin that makes beats and my mom had an ex that had studios I just sat and watched a lot , but I didn’t start messing around with it until I was about 12. Shoutout to Skys and Yen they showed me the ropes.

Favorite people to work with?
Right now I’ll say Babyface Ray, Wrldtour Mafia, the whole Wavy Navy, they make it very easy they like to experiment and try different sounds and just let me do my thing. I feel like everything we make sounds hella different.

Producers who push you to get better?
Off top imma say Wheezy, dude live like a rapper that’s the goal. Brentrambo his work ethic is unmatched every time I look up he doin something crazy, same with Akachi. Skys and 30nick too they crazy talented and got all the lil secret s*** you never seen before.

Artists who push you to get better?
Veeze, Face, Lucki. For sure, over the past 2 years I just watch them turn up a lot, seein that make me wanna turn up too, I also fw Teezo Touchdown alot bro got the formula, everything seems very well executed & planned with him. I try to pay close attention to the qualities of my favorite artists and what makes them a star & try to apply what I can to my own journey.

Biggest obstacle in your career thus far?
I honestly feel like I need to travel a lot more and show my face. Being present in them rooms makes all the difference. I’m working on fixing all that right now though.

Does you family understand/approve of your career?
Imma say no, with some exceptions from a few…I feel like they’re starting to get it though, but alot of times I feel like there’s a lot of doubt and fear being projected towards me, no offense taken though I just got some more proving to do.

Do you feel solidified in the conversation of music producers with motion?
Not gonna lie I really feel slept on, I always see myself getting left out of the lit/fire producer conversations, I don’t take it personally though. Someone’s gotta be the underdog and I guess it’s me.

What’s the goal when music is done?
I think I want to stay involved with music as long as possible, maybe have like a producing class at school or something. Think I’ll just be tryna pick up new hobbies I might start painting or boxing or something who knows haha.

Best city for rap right now?
Easily Detroit, Detroit has it on lock, everyone wants Detroit beats right now. You Name an Lit Artist right now I bet you they probably got a track on a Detroit beat.

Proudest moment in your career thus far?
I’ll have to say being on the billboard charts, that was the moment I realized I can take this to any height I want. I’m shooting for a plaque next!

Advice to yourself when you first started producing?
I would’ve told myself not to get caught up with wanting things to happen so fast, a lot of my peers were already doing a lot of big things at the time so i just felt like I had to keep up. You don’t have to keep up things will sort themselves out at your pace/lane.

Advice to producers coming up?
Don’t chase placements, make genuine relationships, work with your friends, and Make whatever you want/experiment you might just come up with the new sound
