Returning to the Daily Chiefers site, Teezo Touchdown drops the genre-blending track “Technically”. At times, this record feels like hip-hop, then again feels like a throwback R&B jam that has influences of rock. I don’t know how he is continuously able to bring this much forward-thinking music to the table in such a short period of time. “Technically” is an ode to not being in the same space as someone you care about. Teezo sings, “She say that she vibin’ with me but, our lifestyles won’t sync up. Girl, break my heart if you must! Step on it, turn it into dust. Technically I’m still your crush.” Emphasizing he’s okay with having his heartbroken.
I’ve been in awe of Teezo‘s creativity and the video for “Technically” pushes my fascination even further. As usual, this video takes place at the dilapidated garage, but the scene is set as if it is a restaurant. Teezo has some banter with the waiter and finishes this dialogue with the uplifting words, “May the only pain be champagne!”. Then in Teezo fashion, he gets on the table as the track begins. However, my favorite parts of the video are the callbacks to the Tiger from the “Rooting For You” and Jean (Teezo’s spokesperson). The attention to detail and world-building he does is immaculate, making him a notable artist and someone that will push music in a new direction. Check out “Technically” Below!
