Florida is a magical, yet lawless and fucked up land but the food is gas. Regardless of Desantis’ dumb ass, the people seem to piece together a good time. Over the past week I’ve eaten 100 oysters, in a number of delicious styles. Though truly this has been a wondrous week of relaxation and a time to look back at where I was this time last year. A lot can change in 365 if you put the work in. And yeah a little luck doesn’t hurt either, see you on the other side and appreciate the days you have.
Chris Crooks – Goldeneye EP
Crooks continues to be one of the most slept on lyricists in modern music but it doesn’t really mean to much to the man. He returns to our pages with four new cuts in the form of the Goldeneye EP. “Bond Villain” starts things off incredibly bright and audacious then introspectively shifts into “Suffering”. “Infinity” is joyus and triumphant allowing the listener to find out how great Crooks can be when he hits his strides. “Eden Park” pays homage to a neighborhood in Cincy that has a special place in Chris‘ heart and showcases him in his wheelhouse. Overall, Chris isn’t missing, but we never doubted he would for a second.
Jay Amor – For The Armada
Jay Amor is a name to know coming out of GA, and his new EP called For The Armada is futuristic energy fused with precise percussion. In just four cuts you hear some crisp cadences and melodies with a great deal of potential to flourish. “Love Goin’ Up!” and “Diamond” raise the bar when it comes to electric approaches, but “Loose” might be one the world comes to know and love. Either way Amor is starting to build and grow with each of his releases, peep what’s on the way next.
3M DJayy, Brav06 – Light Show
Chicago’s 3M Djayy makes his first appearance on our pages with “Light Show”. This is with Brav06 and the instrumentation is bright and eclectic to say the very least. With some Michigan inspired drums, the scene is set with an Asaiatic sample. Then 3M shines bright with all of the pun intended. His focus is unwavering and the pocket created is masterful from the go. Peep this one above.
Taylor Hall – Happy That It Happened
This Indianapolis-bred singer will impress you the minute you press play. Taylor Hall strays away from the pack but illuminates any backdrop she chooses. In just six songs we take a walk with Taylor through the trials and tribulations of her life. The culmination of emotion that presents itself in each of these cuts showcases that Taylor isn’t afraid to be vulnerable. The best musicians are and she basks in its glory. “Lonely Again” strikes a bitter chord within all of us, but “Shattered” drives home a folk-inspired brutal reality for the heartbroken. Keep going Taylor, you’re onto something.
Law – Why?
New Jersey’s Law asks the world “Why?” with her new single and this oozes passion. Law‘s powerful tone evokes varietals of emotion and encapsulates the real meaning of the song.
