While their overt muse Ringgo Ancheta (a.k.a. Mndsgn of Stones Throw Records) is steady dropping his own flavor of blissfully boisterous funktronica as recently as yesterday’s stellar “Use Ya Mnd (Twentyfourseven),” the Tuskegee, AL duo of Sip Jackson and Kelon Moon also effortlessly come together for the first time ever as ‘NineSix on “MNDSGN.”

The audio/visual ode to the San Deigo instrumentalist that bares his name came about during Moon’s return home from Army training when an on the spot freestyle-turned-recording over the “Chowdr” instrumental from Feels took the form of a dope, reimagined version of the track.

If you’re not keen to the pair from Alabama captured in the 20 Till Film visual, it is likely because Sip’s upcoming project will be his official debut and introduction to the rap world. While they may be new to the game, the smoothly delivered and chiefer-friendly cut dips into relatable bars like, “roll some dope in my basement, I’m smoking the haze, don’t fuck with my neighbors,” which are worthy of necessary replays.
