Chicago is home to a wide array of musical talent yet no pairing has yielded such a strange, impressive outcome then that of buzzing eclectic creatives, ♡NANCY♡ and Vela Seff. ♡NANCY♡ has past experience playing in a metal band during his younger days and has produced for talented Chicago acts such as Warhol.$$, however he has recently started to lock in on producing and singing for his own personal projects. He has also released a vast amount of hidden gems within his ongoing collaboration EP series alongside Milwaukee’s own star, Tombo. Enter Vela Seff from stage left. The Decent Militia rapper/producer has worked with underground demon, Lucki, in the past and built a following rapping about one of hip-hop’s most loved topics earning him the title of “Boofmane”. Their creative collaboration began with Vela originally rapping over ♡NANCY♡ production, until this past year when the duo started to merge their similar stoner characteristics and shared love for hard hitting drums with ♡NANCY’s♡ gravitation towards the shoegaze genre and emotionally raw lyrical content. This fusion of multiple musical genres is present in their two most recent singles, “Axe” and “Pisces”, which find Vela Seff completely engulfed in a new melodious universe that consists of dreamy sounds and distorted vocals. ♡NANCY’s♡ tortured crooning balances out Vela’s confident approach well but their chemistry shines most in the new Des Armon directed feature for “Baby How U Feel?” . Both artists appear on screen together for the first time ever, featuring Vela decked out in yellow Polo rapping with a yellow Fanta in hand, who then proceeds to hand off the song to a sunken faced ♡NANCY♡ in a pink hoodie. The video immediately distorts into a pink haze, matching the substance induced cries of the Chicago musician as he sings, “I can’t focus/I been high/Love the way you look tonight” Providing optimal stoner vibes, Vela Seff and ♡NANCY♡ are 100% Daily Chiefer approved- you can get in tune by checking out the “Baby How U Feel?” visual above and afterwards pressing play below on “Axe” and “Pisces”.
