Minneapolis rapper Student 1 recruits Philadelphia-based artist Tierra Whack for a chill, catchy and smooth af record entitled “yin/yang”. The record starts off with Student 1 delivering quick bars quickly, while annunciating the lyrics really well. He even adds some nice melodies to his bars and he layers them over the beat perfectly. He’s got a cool brand and his sound reflects it perfectly; he embodies something I like to call smart rap. His sound morphs really well with Tierra Whack’s, who comes in for the second half of the record with a lower voice but similar flow. The record itself progresses really well and overall it’s a great experience. This is one of my favorite efforts from Student 1, and with chemistry as good as this on a record, I really hope we get more Student 1 x Tierra Whack in the future. Take a listen below.
