Rei Ami has been blazing a new path for herself, all with such little music out for the public to digest. Though regardless of the quantity, her duality when it comes to breaking her songs in half is pure genius. “Snowcone” her brilliant breakout smash is essentially two songs to feed her fans. Each half is a polar opposite of the other, showing every shade of Rei.
This is the same case with “Dictator”, she breaks our neck as a dominatrix in the first half. Then soothes our auditory aches and bruises on the second side. The visuals are cinematic, proving that Rei Ami has the star power to control your attention. Alex Cook directed this one, which is an incredible feat to pair with this brooding anthem. Cook sees Ami‘s versatility and it pushes them both forward to curate a wondrous end product.
