We’re back! Welcome to the latest edition of Undiscovered Gems. Once again, we want to put you on to some more notable talent. In an age where producers are starting to develop a stronger footing in the industry, their type of artistry is more relevant than ever. So with that being said, scroll on and let us get you hip.
Papamitrou
Out of Massachusetts is our first pick for this edition of ‘Undiscovered Gems’. Nick Papamitrou, more popularly known as Papamitrou, is the first producer that Meek Mill signed to his Roc Nation imprint, Dreamchasers. Getting a solid start in music by gaining traction with “Meek Mill Type Beats” on YouTube, the young producer manifested his future. After a fan tagged Meek‘s manager on one of Papamitrou‘s posts, he soon found a very meaningful role within Meek Mill‘s team. Since his YouTube days, he’s developed quite the catalog of music. The MA native has landed placements with Don Q, Meek Mill (obviously), Calboy, Lil Durk, Young Thug, Dave East, and Roddy Ricch. One of my favorite tracks of his is his song with Meek Mill and Roddy Ricch, “Letter to Nipsey”. The team dedicated the track to their fallen friend and ensured all proceeds would go the Nipsey‘s family. Check out Papamitrou‘s crazy ability, and stream his song with Meek Mill and Roddy Ricch below.
Drum God
There are a lot of artists out of Cleveland, Ohio that have found a place on our pages lately. One particular artist who has caught my eye is 16-year-old producer Drum God (aka BreadGangDrum). This young gun has solidified a role in Moneybagg Yo‘s label, Bread Gang Entertainment, and has accumulated an insane portfolio of work. Before he’s at an age where he can legally drive, he’s been credited with production work for Moneybagg Yo, Future, Tee Grizzley, J. Cole, YG, Yo Gotti, Blac Youngsta and Seddy Hendrinx. He’s Pusharod‘s sole management client, and the Interscope A&R is surely a great person to help develop this budding act. One thing is for sure: Drum God is just getting started in this industry and has a ridiculously bright future. Stay tuned to this impressive producer, and check out his record with Moneybagg Yo and Future below.
Lunchbox
Just recently, Sony ATV made a wise decision signing one of Harlem’s most promising acts, Lunchbox. Lunchbox finalized the publishing deal with them, earning himself a proper check for his impressive efforts in the music scene. The young talent produced 6 of the 14 tracks on Sheck Wes‘ debut project, Mudboy. “Live SheckWes Die SheckWes”, “Gmail”, “WESPN”, “Burn Slow”, “Jiggy On The Shits” and “Fuck Everybody” were all produced by Lunchbox, and were some of the most well-received tracks off of the project. In addition, the Harlem native earned co-production credits on DJ Snake‘s song “Enzo” with Sheck Wes, Offset, 21 Savage and Gucci Mane. Lunchbox has established himself as a recording artist as well, earning hundreds of thousands of cumulative plays on SoundCloud for his self-produced bangers, and his tracks with producers like 16yrsold and Redda. Lunchbox is an impressive artist who’s proven just how well-rounded his musical ability is. Stay tuned for big things from him, and check out his track “Gmail” from Mudboy below.
AR
Another impressive Harlem-based act is Long Island-born producer AR. Regarded by many as one of the hardest working producers in Hip-Hop, AR operates at a level that would be too much for most to handle. Constantly bouncing from city to city, the young artist has stamped his name on many notable records. After solidifying a spot in A$AP Ant‘s Marino Infantry, it was only up from there. AR has worked with both mainstream artists and underground, flaunting his familiarity with the music scene to his audience. With names in his catalog like A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ant, Lucki, Lil Gotit, Hoodrich Pablo Juan, 645AR, Benji Blue, Z Money, Baby 9eno and OlaRunt, it’s clear to see why he’s experiencing so much success as of late. It’s rare to find an artist who understands the dual importance of working with well-known artists, along with collaborating with future stars before they amass a huge following. He’s got an ear for the right talent, and his beat-making is next level. Just recently, he dropped his project Man Time. This four-track EP is just a glimpse of the Long Island native’s impressive ability. Check out AR‘s beat for “Mario Cart” with A$AP Rocky and A$AP Ant below, and stay tuned for more from this future great.
