Welcome to the ninth edition of Undiscovered Gems! This round, we have some very notable talent who are on the verge of breaking out. Come take a look below at who we’ve got as this week’s Gems.
Summrs
Out of Louisiana is soon-to-be star Summrs. The young artist just signed to Victor Victor, a rapidly rising management company run by the head of Def Jam‘s A&R Steven Victor. This move allows him to join in the ranks of Pusha T, PopSmoke, CashmoneyAP, 16yrsold, Hooligan Chase, and many other major names under the recently formed management company. Summrs has had a steady stream of quality releases, with an interesting catalog of music that’s well worth listening to. Come take a deeper look at Summrs‘ vivid collection of drops, and get hip before everybody else does! Here’s his latest track, “With Me”, which dropped less than a week ago.
T$an30000
If you’ve been keeping up with Daily Chiefers lately, then you should be familiar with the name T$an30000. The Philadelphia young gun just inked a deal with Sony‘s Columbia Records, aligning himself with other big-name acts like Beast Coast, 24kGoldn, Chase B, Dominic Fike, Polo G, Lil TJay, and Lil Nas X. T$an‘s portfolio of drops thus far is ear-catching to say the least. His leaked track on SoundCloud with Lil Uzi Vert definitely added a bit more incentive for the major label to sign him; having a co-sign from the biggest rapper out of Philly is way more than T$an needed to get his check. Philadelphia’s rap scene just garnered even more well-earned attention, and T$an30000 is on the front lines. Watch his video for “come home” right below.
Jawnza
It’s no secret that Florida is home to a huge demographic of dynamic rappers. Next on our list is Jawnza, one of Tampa’s best. When the Florida native moved out to California, he matched his Hollywood surroundings with Hollywood-quality visuals for his dazzling music. His music on its own is unbelievable, but he somehow manages to further raise the bar with the corresponding videos. His sound seems to have Lo-Fi and Electronic roots, while containing elements that are undeniably cutting edge and contemporary. He is easily one of my favorite undiscovered talents and somebody whose growth I have great faith in. Jawnza combines lyricism, rhythm, and an “x-factor” which he shares with some of Hip-Hop’s greatest acts. Everything that he drops just seems to make sense (relative to the rest). Jawnza is strategic with his content, and it will surely reward him in the end. For example, here’s his lyric video for “Free Radical”.
Badda TD
Next up is an NYC-native whose second home is the DMV, Badda TD. With a flow that keeps you locked into listening, he spazzes on all of his songs with an impressive control of momentum. His latest drop is “Play Her Part”, a guitar-based beat which served as a perfect platform for his vocal ability. He skates on the instrumental with ease, giving hints of Lil Tecca‘s level of vocal ability (especially in his comfort at a fast pace). Just as impressive as “Play Her Part” is one of his previous releases, “Gang”. Badda TD cleanly channels emotion in unique ways, keeping his audience drawn in listening closely. Between his lyrics, flow, and melody he’s got us impressed. Get hip to one of NYC’s best Undiscovered natives, Badda TD, and stream “Gang” below.
Lil Agz
Popular for not giving a single shit and going viral with his “Say less!” video, Lil Agz is nine years old and is taking the internet world by storm. His irreverence and comedy is enough to blow up, but to my surprise, he proved to be way more than just a meme. His first single, “Momma We Good” blew my mind. His melodic ability caught me so off guard. Lil Agz snapped with a New York swagger that’s clearly in his veins. He’s actually got bars and his voice is so New York. “Momma We Good” is a two-minute track that’s bound to have you pressing repeat over and over again. If you think he’s gone viral already, you’re not wrong, but it’s not even the tip of the iceberg for Lil Agz. Whether it’s his comedy or remarkable music-making ability, Lil Agz is sure to keep you entertained. Check out his debut single below, you won’t be disappointed.
