Ryan Martinez, also known as G. Ry, is a producer whose come up has been particularly graceful. His Orange County origins along with early east-coast influences helped to shape the unique career that he has. He served a very influential role in PARTYNEXTDOOR‘s ascension and in the realm of contemporary R&B.

With names like Jay-ZDrakePARTYNEXTDOORFutureJuice WRLDRoddy RicchSummer WalkerJay ElectronicaSwizz BeatzNipsey Hussle, and Trippie Redd in his catalog of work, it’s clear that G. Ry‘s on a path to be a legend in the world of Hip-Hop and R&B. When somebody shows up on so many notable records, they deserve similar levels of recognition as the stars who’ve grown their buzz with them. G. Ry is another example of an artist who’s influenced the contemporary music scene extensively, yet hasn’t gained proper recognition for it. Not in the sense that his name isn’t in the credits, but rather that the social media numbers he’s garnered pale in comparison to the likes of the recording artists he works with.

As we’ve mentioned in prior Undiscovered Gems posts, Spotify is soon to release an update where writers and producers will have their own pages on the platform, where they can show off the records they’ve been involved in. This is significantly better than merely appearing in the credits (found deep in the options menu on a song).  G. Ry and producers just like him should serve as inspirations to those of our readers who produce. His career is a model for success. Any artist who’s produced for the likes of the aforementioned greats has surely obtained legendary status in the game. Check out one of my favorite records from Orange County producer G. Ry: “The Blinding” from Jay Electronica‘s latest project, featuring Hov and Travis Scott.
