Brockton, Massachusetts-native Benjy Ali is starting the year off right with “Alright”. Last year, he released the Grace EP, showcasing his range and artistic abilities. That EP set a solid foundation for what is to come. Playing with the current boundaries in contemporary R&B, he seems to blend elements of the new with the old seamlessly.
On “Alright”, Benjy captures the feeling of being lost in reverie. Not “Wanting the sun to fall” or, as I interpret it, as not wanting things to change from how they are. His vocals are infectious, and the bass is fantastic. “Alright” has an air of class to it and seems like a timeless song that I will often revisit. Being from Massachusetts, I love to see great music coming out of the state, and Benjy is a gem. I’m excited to see what his team has next, and I know any visuals will be on point.
