Norweigan-born musical talent, Jimi Somewhere creates a whole new universe with his single “The World”. This genre-bending track takes influence from hip-hop, indie pop, and alternative rock. Yet somehow cohesively meshes them all together for a stellar record. Jimi focuses on themes of self-introspection and poetically analyzes the world around him. The pitch-shifted autotune vocals are reminiscent of Kevin Abstract’s Arizona Baby, but Jimi takes that blueprint and pushes it to its limits. The hook is executed with the utmost precision giving great payoff for the listener. This song would be a brilliant addition to any cinematic effort.

This record is accompanied by a simplistic video of Jimi frolicking in a field. I feel like the video works well with the song because of the juxtaposition. The production is over the top, while the video is more settled, allowing for the vulnerable lyrics to hit harder. In addition to it being Self-directed, he has a vision for himself and can execute it on his accord. I’m excited to hear Jimi’s album dropping this Friday, so tap into the gas below.
