Since launching into the Bronx scene about year ago Kay Flock has clearly proven he’s the next top dog to blow out of New York City. I haven’t seen a NY persona gain this much traction in so little time since Pop Smoke, so the quickness of his creative trajectory feels very familiar. There are few places you can go in NYC without hearing Kay Flock these days.
Recruited by fellow drill star Fivio Foreign, and Bronx native Lil Tjay, I promise you this is your girlfriend’s new favorite drill song. “Not in The Mood“ is a perfect combination of the various current sounds shooting out the city. Tjay sets the mood with an alluring melodic chorus, while Fivio trades his infamous Brooklyn drill style approach. Setting up the new face of the Bronx, Kay Flock, to deliver his iconic demonic vocal presence. Flock shouts a verse full of hard-hitting punchlines, my favorite of the bunch, “I Know they mad that they free me, I ran up a milly, know they shoulda kept me.” Kay Flock is clearly ‘Not in The Mood’ and is for sure here to make an imprint in the music scene in years to come.
