The norm with Soundcloud R&B and subgenre Plug N’ B is mediocre autotuned singing over spacey beats that don’t always have a ton of direction. However, Xlovclo‘s new track “Mindset” is far from that. The Maryland native has a serious vocal range with a tasteful amount of vocal effects and some killer production from rising producer Dylvinci.
Clo‘s lovelorn crooning and heartfelt lyrics delicately balances the rawness of Plug N’ B with a polished tone reminiscent of Kodie Shane and Willow Smith. Other tracks with Dylvinci share similar characteristics like their collab “Nawf”, which dropped a few weeks ago. However, this one leans much more heavily into the R&B space and is a really dope change of pace for the Soundcloud R&B movement as a whole. Check out “Mindset” below!
