Goofy by Hadji Gaviota

“Goofy” is an instant classic! Hadji made a charismatic and catchy indie-pop song. I love the storytelling throughout the music; it’s hilarious and creative. I caught myself singing “You a Goofy, You a Punk” over the past few days. I don’t know how he always seems to push the envelope more and more with each release. I love the visualizer as well; it showcases Hadji’s personality.

Father Time by Kendrick Lamar (ft. Sampha)

K.Dot is Back! “Father Time” has to be one of my favorite songs on the record. The song’s production is filthy, and the transition from a reversed sample to a clean instrumental is crazy. Kendrick analyzes his daddy issues, unpacking past trauma and noticing how to grow from it. Sampha gives a great feature; it feels like a transition to the opposite side of a channel. It’s a beautifully crafted song, but that’s expected from one of our generation’s greatest artists.

Hitting Different by Jonah Lenox

Jonah Lenox officially releases his debut album WDYWTBWYGU, and it’s a masterful project. The whole project flows in ways that only a few musicians could pull off, and to say the least, he’s one of the most talented in the game. “Hitting Different” is a catchy tune about growing up. I love how he frames the song in a threatening manner; it plays into the project’s themes. I love the consistency; it made for an excellent and seamless listen.

Michael by Remi Wolf

I love Remi Wolf and her taking this Alternative Rock angle on this record is sick. I’ve never heard her dive into this genre, but she does it so well. Her vocals seem to be made for the strumming guitars and punchy drums. “Michael” has become my favorite song, and I can’t see myself getting tired of it anytime soon.

Take The Blame by Brevin Kim

Brevin Kim has been a staple in the Spotify landscape, and they finally gave us their debut album, PAIN MUSEUM. “Take The Blame” is a slow jam of the project, where we get the duo crooning over some bouncing bass. I honestly love when they get into this bag because they do it so well. It gives me 3 am driving beachside with a girl you just met. This is a spectacular record!

Last Last by Burna Boy

Burna Boy is a GOAT. I don’t usually write about Afro-Beats, but “Last Last” is such a bop that it needs to make a Friday Heat Check. The song’s energy will make all the girls start dancing at any party. I love the flow he catches, and the posse cut vocals on the record are fantastic. Burna Boy always knows how to do it!
