My stummy hurt. And not in the fun Carti way of pain that could only be cured by rubbing copious amounts of money on it. In the way that I get sick and tired of the anger of the world sometimes. But I’m mad too. I’m mad about all of the constant bickerings and misunderstandings. There isn’t a ton we can agree on other than the fact that we all inhabit this floating rock. So while we’re here let’s cleanse our spirit in the herb of the earth and try to smile until the sun burns out. Oh and really find some music you enjoy, here’s some of mine below.
Brent Skud is a name new to our pages, but with his six-song EP 811 shows it’s better now than never. With production from some notable names such as Rxddie, EVince, Lord Sean and LNK, the pairing of bars and vivid percussive elements is nothing short of stellar. An effort coming out of NY, but definitely feels like there is some Southern inspiration there because of the cadences and overall tones. “FDR Drive” is crazy, and “Black Box” speaks something serious too. Nonetheless, Skud delivered some heaters, so peep it all above.
C4Y and Bloody2Shoez are “Still On Point” and they will continue to be until the end of time. For these shining visuals, we hear the duo float above instrumentation from Akachi and they pick up right where they left off. The beat could be categorized as the ever-so-popular “Glo” style, but Akachi was one of the founders of that sound. C4Y and Shoez only accent the beat and flaunt the fruits of their labor for two minutes and seventeen seconds. With direction from Sologroup, this one is really a great video brimming with talent from the underground.
Another project coming out of NY, but this one is brought to the people by rising artist devRAB. Seeing BigbabyGucci and Kevin Powers on the last two cuts of the project was an eye-catcher, but devRAB doesn’t get overshadowed by any means. Though there is some stellar energy between Powers and RAB that the world should indulge in. “Know Better” possesses infectious energy that cannot be resisted or denied. Overall this kid has a lot of potential and knows what type of beats to use that will accent his own talents. Get hip to devRAB.
Cyrax has been around the block a few times, but that doesn’t mean that he’s not making stellar songs for the people. At a certain point, these guys were some of the best rising artists in the world, and they still make classics, but a bit of the buzz is removed. This doesn’t really matter when you have a real fan base and still possess the love of making music. “Past The Moon” basks in the PluggnB realm, but our protagonist was one of the first to create a mood like this. The way Cyrax and the instrumentation pair are second to none, you cannot attempt to recreate this fusion. We still rock with Divine Council over here, so get hip above.
Szaba is one of the best singers in Ohio, but his sound will soon expand past the borders of the state. With the visuals for “Valid” directed by Tripp Pittman we see Szaba and his leading lady running to the bread, but on the wrong side of the law. We see some pigs eventually subdue Szaba, but his lady gets them out of the jam with the blick. Love this new realm of drill-percussion fused with lush R&B. Get hip to the bro above.
Noah Richardson submitted some music to an Instagram live that I was in a few months back and since then I had to keep the kid on the radar. This project Dead To Me is twelve songs of smashes that could virtually have no ceiling. It all depends on how you hear it, but “Painful” has great potential for sync placements and will win over the fans. “Oh No” possesses electric energy as well, but “lowercase letters” shows another stellar shade of Noah. “Perfect” will leave you stunned as the “sunday scaries” round it all out with flare. Noah‘s onto something, get hip.
Kris Stasse is fresh out of Virginia Beach and the sound is just as smooth as you’d think it would be. “Bad Newz” features Xiamara Jennings and they both meet in middle to combine their talents in this moving effort. The subject matter touches on the trials and tribulations that we all go through moving through life. Though when it comes to an artist overcoming the obstacles, it always seems as if the road was much more arduous. I do really love the production value of this cut because though chords in the backdrop add another vivacious level of emotion. Kris Stasse is a name to know, don’t be late.
