Taste is subjective and so is the humor of the world. Everyone thinks they have this clear path to success, but the ego seems to be the most significant deterrent. You’re not as close to success as you might think and there’s work to be done every day. If you have a solid team around you then consider yourself blessed. A lot of unknown artists rise up and develop an ego of sorts that will cause them to fall just as quickly, but the fault lies in that arrogance. We are all learning as we go and should continue to do so until our dying day, but in the meantime, treat those on your team with kindness and respect because you never know when a different opportunity might cause them to leave.

Lelo – Wise

We put the industry onto Lelo in the Spring of 2022 and now that people are finally starting to pay attention, we see the potential trajectory of his talents. “Wise” is a wondrous set of production from Snapz and Glumboy, that allows Lelo to shine in a miraculous manner. Talks of designer and quick-witted punchlines show and prove this kid is one of the best coming up. Peep the new Detroit above.

For The Speakers Featuring Deric – Apart

For The Speakers is taking things far past being just an IG page. They build community along with making real music and their project last year was a great example of the imprint’s ability to craft these songs. Linking with Deric for “Apart” we hear what the future of music is gearing up for. Incredibly percussive elements perfectly surround Deric and his tonality. This one is special so peep it all above.

Yvng Ev – This Time

This one was sent to me by a good bro of mine and from the instant, we pressed play we were impressed. Yvng Ev basks in the glory of this modernized style of music but doesn’t get washed away by grasping onto any of his competition’s identity. The music is energetic, and fluid and deserves to get a bit more shine. So do yourself a favor and get tapped in with EV above.

Selina – Runaway

Selina is new to our pages with her talents, but her newest EP “Runaway” was the one that stuck with me the most. Her wave exudes emotion and takes the listener to where her pain dwells. To be able to transform our auditory setting into one of your own and carry us through the song is always an impressive feat. Her range is stellar, she can pen some heat and will continue to do so. Get acquainted with Selina above.

illusion hills – farewell

Would it be an article about illusion hills if I didn’t say they were better than…. Well, you know who, but truly this group doesn’t have a ceiling over top of them. We could see this gang of merry, talented creatives blow up in a few months and we wouldn’t bat an eyelash. And especially with these visuals for “farewell” we see yet another prime example of why we feel the way we do. A real breath of fresh air for Pop and music overall, but don’t take my word for it, tap in above.

Bucky Malone – BMW Music (ChopNotSlop Remix)

Bucky is back with the Chop Not Slop variation of his project The Purple Album. Linking with legend Slim K, we hear the usual bliss that Bucky brings to the table, but just not just-chopped. It’s chopped not slopped and there is still a special place in our hearts for The Chopstars. What draws us to Bucky‘s sound is the DIY, low-fi fusion that cannot be mimicked. Its simply Bucky in his own realm, so get hip to this throwed wave above.

Black Ranger – Black Baby

Black Ranger makes his first appearance on our pages as well with his six-song EP Black Baby. This EP is a stellar melding of different genres and starts things off with “No Promises” which entrances the listener. “Motion Sickness” is another heater following up into “Reflection”. The tempo of these cuts pairs with Ranger‘s smokey tone in a flawless manner. Then the instrumentation of a cut like “Akua pt. II” adds to a rich auditory atmosphere. This allows Black Ranger to paint the sky with precision. This is an impressive offering and we’ll def be tapped in after this one.
