Southsidesillhouette had an absolutely insane come-up last year that has only sped up since the year started. Repping Atlanta, Southside has been a wave leader on SoundCloud flexing completely fresh flows and musical tone that no one can keep up with. After dropping off his instant classic DIAFORA last year, Southside continued to push the agenda with more singles and EPs. This week, however, he proved how versatile he can really be on this completely fresh new EP, Don’t Fall.
Don’t Fall is only 3 songs, but each song is total heat in its own way. “i see you” kicks off the three with the classic hard, grimey sound we know Southside by with elements of melodic stature that push the boundaries of his usual sound. Transitioning quickly into “shkrimp,” Southside falls into a more laid-back flow similar to what we have heard from Lucki, but with a filthy twist that only Southside could produce. Finally, wrapping up the entire record with “far” Southside picks up the pace with quick bass punches overlaid with a slow melodic vocal approach that creates an angelic experience you can’t help but throw on repeat.
Overall, this short surprise project offered way more than I was ever expecting and quickly became three of my new favorite records from Southside to date. If you missed this one dropping, I got you below.
