Too many a thankless jobs I’ve done over the years, but we have to keep pushing in these tumultuous times. wokeups – fragged aht
Wokeups is having a real moment in the underground with this one. “Fragged Aht” is showcasing his diverse vocal styling and his sheer creativity from start to finish. Many of the complaints of modern music state that everything sounds the same. On quite the contrary this young man is trailblazing a new sound unlike anything that’s out right now. Some may try to say this is meme rap or other’s may say he’s just trolling, but these vocal runs have created a true period in time where we’re focused on his sound. So regardless of how he got attention, he did it and we’ll have to see where this style takes him. This cut is even gaining some serious traction on Tiktok as well with over 400 separate videos utilizing the sound as well. Wokeups is truly next up, don’t sleep and get left behind.
macauley – 6 dollar wine
macauley is back on our pages with “6 dollar wine” and infectious single showcasing his incredibly songwriting ability and vocal prowess. The mood is chill yet moving and doesn’t ever lack in keeping the ear’s attention. I think the main thing that draws us in so much is the fact that his tonality is so brilliantly unique we are encompassed in this world created by macauley. The instrumentation does a great job of melding around the vocal approach, but only accents instead of distracting the listener. Overall macauley is one of those names to pay attention to in 2024, get hip.
Valid – May 6th
Detroit’s own, Valid, just dropped off his new cut, “May 6th,” produced by Montenegrin talents Knowhere2run and Vibin wit DJ Mono. Building on his acclaimed debut album, Mihajlo, and the successful Plum Brandy EP, which saw significant which did some solid numbers in Europe, Valid continues to expand his musical horizons. Under the mentorship of Grammy Award-winning DJ Head, Valid has teamed up with Detroit legend Stretch Money to form the dynamic duo Bill & Isiah. “May 6th” is a vibrant homage to Valid’s Balkan heritage, offering a modern twist on the traditional Djurdjevdan holiday. The song melds historic regional sounds with a contemporary, energetic beat, showcasing Valid‘s charismatic and confident delivery. This might be a bit different than the traditional idea of what would come out of Detroit, but it’s a refreshing take in an over-saturated realm. Valid seems to know what works best for his talent’s and showcasing his identity is one of the most important things in his mission.
