Karriem Riggins - Matador Posse Cut Cover

Although Riggins’ solo debut instrumental album Alone Together dropped last October to critical acclaim (namely NPR, one of the last few legitimate critic houses in music), the jazz drummer and acclaimed producer continue to push the elite beats into new realms. Where he has previously worked with the likes of Common, Talib Kweli and The Roots, this time Riggins kept it in house and puts his Stones Throw brothers Homeboy Sandman, Guilty Simpson, Jonwayne, and Krondon on the cut. Given Guilty Simpson was sitting atop a majority of the Top 10 lists in 2012 for his collab album with Apollo Brown, and Homeboy Sandman has been making bigger waves with each release and feature, this is a benchmark track of the strength behind the Stones Throw lineup. Each takes the chance to flex some choice bars from their primary notebook, and the result is an all-star feature track that showcases independent label run by Peanut Butter Wolf.
