Making a statement with his first ever rap release seems to have been the plan for the Northern California producer Wrathmatics. “Supreme” takes the crossover step in combining his signature production featured on recent beats like “SWTCH” and “My Beach Cruiser Song To Ride Out With,” and adds to it with his never before heard rhymes. The surface results is a sound that rides with West Coast ease, but digging deeper into the lyrical content an artist can be heard that fleshes out verse themes revolving around the positive pillars of knowledge, understanding and wisdom. The symbolic sequence of enlightenment doesn’t limit the motif to simple conscious bars. Instead the nostalgic cut dances around youthful endeavors with questionable legality and relatable drama, and channeling that grind into his current status as a emcee/producer breaking out of his Sacramento nest. Plus the beat is just too dope, which we have come to expect from the enigmatic figure we know as Wrathmatics.
