West Palm Beach’s very own local emcee Croosh has finally delivered his latest project Cloudless Night. The 14 cut, Danny Dee produced album features Marino Maali, Prez P, Phresh James, and Sean Buck, and is highlighted by staple tracks “O.E. (Ole English),” “After Midnight,” and “The Burbs.” Heavy drum snaps and tonal bass lines are the core construction, laced with a mix of psychedelic synths and tasteful horns that ride the laid back rhythms. The labor of love by the man behind the lyrics Christian Ferris sees these beats sitting in his archive for over a year before getting the proper bars laid down. Overtly worth the wait, the final product a testament to what the South Florida hip-hop underground has to offer here and now, and also what producer Danny Dee is capable of when given the chance to flesh out an extended vision with a single spitter.
When I asked him about the backstory of the title, Croosh shed some wisdom, “On a night with no clouds, stars in the sky are easier to see. Stars have always alluded to being goals, dreams, and aspirations. On a cloudless night you can see those goals, dreams, and aspirations clearer. The primary subject matter is seeing the goals ahead of me, and having them become more vivid and attainable. It’s being more alert and imaginative as well as descriptive about my surroundings.” The dude is deep and articulates his mental flexing well on this benchmark project.
