It’s been a minute since something shot straight out of inner-city Miami, seemingly encompassing the right foundational street textures to accent a polished audible assault of the anthemic nature. Up-and-comer Monk is a few steps away from being a household name, but his city repping (Little Haiti specifically) on “305” answers any question of whether the kid can cover the intangibles. Stepping up to beats akin to T.I.’s prime era selections, a rare presence is seen focusing on a clean vocal delivery not always required in the modern era. The young rapper riddles off vocabulary-laced street rhetoric in between a bouncing hook that could land Miami right back on the radar if this one catches on. More importantly Monk is able to avoid repetitive call backs or played out bridges that have become the epitome of his genre peers sonic identifiers. The Mirror Muzik representative offered up No Mercy with New York spitter Bruno Mali in January, but stay tuned to us for some insight on what this promising hometown artist has loaded in the chamber.
