The legend Andre 3000 will be portraying Jimi Hendrix in the upcoming film JIMI: All Is By My Side, directed by John Ridley (12 Years A Slave). The film covers Jimi’s life from 1966-67 when Jimi was an unknown guitarist playing in New York’s Cheetah Club to his rise of popularity in the London music scene. Apparently the film only covers a short timeline because they never secured the rights to Hendrix music (seriously). Check out the official trailer above, the film is due out September 26th.
