As we entered into the final quarter of the year, J. Cole unexpectedly announced that he will be finishing off 2014 with a new album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive. With no features whatsoever, as well as a minimal promotional campaign, Cole’s album performed incredibly within the first week of it being released to the masses.
With 361,120 copies sold, Cole had the most selling album in hip hop of the year and did all this with an album that nobody was even expecting to be released. Not only did Cole have the most selling project of 2014 but he did it by a landslide beating out Rick Ross’ Mastermind album which finished its first week at 179,000 copies sold.
Big congratulations goes out to J. Cole, Roc Nation, and Dreamville on this impressive accomplishment.
