I’d like to start this post by apologizing for sleeping on this project. Today is May 19th, & the EP I’m about to talk about was released April 11th, 2015. But it’s always better late than never when it comes to hearing good music, as far as I’m concerned. Planet Asia, hailing from Fresno, California has a decorated career when it comes to this rap shit, as you can see for yourself here. Asia has been crafting rhymes since the year I was born, and I can’t remember the exact track I first heard him rap on, but it was with Talib Kweli. That was a few years ago, and then Doo Wop by Blu happened (Asia is on the 2nd verse), and I’ve been on his music ever since. Of course, what drew me to ” KingMedallions’ ” music was his rhyming ability. Specifically his bar structure and the cadence in which he spits them in. It’s just infectious to my ear and I eff with it heavy. The Nautica Nagas EP is the project this post is about. It’s a collaboration between Planet Asia & Los Angeles producer DirtyDiggs. It’s actually their 2nd joint effort released this year. The first, “2010 A.D.” came out two months prior. A staple in both of them finds Asia spitting knowledge over soulful and any other type of beat DirtyDiggs conjured up. A few of my favorite tracks are: Cup Over Filleth, Tiger Stripes, Grade A Ism, & I Done Met Stevie. If you like what you hear below, don’t hesitate to explore the rest of Planet Asia’s discography. It’s full of nothing but grade A Hip-Hop.
