During a recent performance in Sacramento, Yasiin Bey took time to acknowledge the rumors being spread about him on the internet, by reciting a verse that he’s previously written. Bey spit a flavorful cluster of bars accentuated with his beaming charisma. His words leading up to rapping were:
“I’ve got a lot of new things I’ve been working on. I know it’s a lot of speculation as to what I’m doing.. what my travel status is…. Don’t let the machines eat your brains, yo… Don’t let these machines play rough.. They don’t fact check nothing, they’ll put anything out there if it’s provocative and look crazy, it look like a rumor, they gone put it up, so… I wrote this about the interwebs, and journalism..”
And I completely agree with him. Journalism has been horrible lately in the music world, especially Hip-Hop. Websites put up so many articles full of click-bait that are full of nothing but false words and rumors. Yet, they still somehow expect to be taken seriously. Aside from that, this verse had me laughing & grinning from ear to ear, along with Yasiin mentioning the fact that he’s been working on new things. & Shout out to YouTube user Pharaoh House Media for uploading this video to the net.
