If snagging Nicki Minaj wasn’t enough for the MMG rapper, Meek Mill continues his success by topping Billboard 200 charts this summer. Only a week removed from releasing his long-awaited sophomore LP, Dreams Worth More Than Money, Meek has finally earned his first ever no. 1 album on Billboard.
According to Nielsen Music, Meek moved over 246,000 units in his opening week, which includes the additional streams from Spotify, Apple Music and so on.
This also marks the fourth highest first week sales for an album this year, joining Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late (495,000), Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly (324,000) and Mumford & Sons’ Wilder Mind (231,000). Miguel’s third studio album Wildheart, saw a total of 48,000 units moved for its opening 7 days.
All in all, it was a pretty good day for rap.
