Washington Has Made $70 Million in Marijuana Tax Dollars

In 2014, Colorado profited $44 million in tax dollars from legal marijuana sales, along with an additional $32 million from medical sales — making that a grand total of $76 million.

And we still want this illegal? Anyways, I digress.

Thanks to its higher tax rate, Washington’s legal retail market actually beat Colorado in retail sales, netting an outstanding $70 million in tax dollars. Say what you want, but you can’t argue with the tax dollars gained which, like in Colorado, surely has helped benefit schools, lowered crime rates, and overall quality of life. According to the state’s Liquor and Control Board, Washington averages $1.4 million in sales each day from the state’s 160 shops. Wow.
