Later this week, Madlib & Rappcats will be releasing music in the form of a limited 12 inch EP that will be first sold in Chicago & Los Angeles. Friday, July 17th, Madlib will be performing at The Mid in Chicago & will be joined onstage by the EP’s featured Emcee. Tickets for that show are available here, and it will be followed by Freddie Gibbs & Madlib at The Pitchfork Festival in Chicago on July 19th. On Saturday, July 18th in Los Angeles, there will be a one day record store pop up from 12pm-4pm @ Rappcats, 5636 York Blvd. The new EP will be available along with everything else in the Madlib Invazion catalog. The “bats & razor blades” record consists of 3 vocal tracks, along with instrumentals and bonus beats, adding up to 9 tracks total. 150 numbered copies will be available to purchase in both Chicago & L.A. respectively, and more are being printed to add to Rappcats’ website later this summer. The prevailing question about this release is the identity of the rapper who will be rapping over legendary Madlib production. The rappcats website assures fans that it’s not who we think it is. So stay tuned to Madlib & Rappcats on social media this week as more information, and eventually music is divulged.
