Everything about “ur a bitch” the second single from Adanna Duru‘s upcoming debut project, NAPPY HOUR, is a bedroom confessional performed in a doll house: colorful and animated storytelling. The track draws you in with its kaleidoscopic compositions. Keys flicker as if it’s a Dance Dance Revolutionmachine, pacing itself in its first few notes as a warmup to the vibrancy and vitriol that awaits. The drums periodically align like a lunar eclipse, offering a satisfying punch to bob your joints.
Inside the kaleidoscopic dollhouse, Adanna‘s tone alters depending on the seriousness of the line. “You got this little thing about you where you don’t trust other chicks unless they’re lame without you,” Adanna expresses her displeasure, only to gag her friend’s fear of being around bad bitches “you want no baddies around.” Her frankness gets the better of her in the hook, “have you ever thought that you don’t get no friends cause ur a bitch?” where she’s able to say what she wants to. She again taunts her frenemy in the second verse with her sturdy-like bounce in her melody, “you can’t work like me/can’t serve like me/ cant fuck that shit up,” proving she’s not a threat whatsoever. “Ur A Bitch” is bound to make you dance, whether in a room or walking off after delivering the last word.
