Apple Announces New Streaming Service, Brings Out Drake and Debuts New Weeknd Song

UPDATE:

During the huge Apple roll-out, Drake took the mic and revealed that his highly-anticipated album Views From The 6 will be exclusively released through Apple Music. Watch his explanation at the bottom of the page.

According to the New York Post, Apple is rumored to be in talks with Drake regarding a $19 million deal that would include a guest DJ spot on their recently launched iTunes Radio — in addition to other unspecified details w/in the forthcoming contract.

This morning, in San Francisco during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Meeting, Apple made a few BIG announcements regarding their iOS 9 update, their Apple Pay and Maps features, and much more. Also, with the crowd overly anxious, the announced changes to their extended battery life, their new and improved Apple Watch apps, but most importantly — we finally have the details on their huge partnership with Beats by Dre that was announced over a year ago.

After the announcement, Drake hit the podium to speak on Apple Connect, which we found out was the service that will offer exclusive video content from ESPN, Comedy Central, BBC and much more.

The service officially launches on June 30th on all iOS devices, including iPhone, iPad, iPad Touch, Mac and PC, as well as Apple TV and Android devices. Initially they will be offering a free, three month subscription before charging $9.99 a month.

Unlike any other streaming service, there will be another plan available for $14.99 a month for families, which allows up to six users. And finally, to close out the meeting, The Weeknd debuted his newest single — which was leaked a couple weeks back, titled “I Can’t Feel My Face.”
