“You know I love you girl, that’s why I had to leave. I got some trust issues, hope you still fuck with me,” is the kind of opening line that would have Diddy throwing a fit.
For the last few weeks, and most recently with Diddy saying via Twitter “Who killed R&B”, the internet has been buzzing about the toxicity that is laced in the songs of male R&B stars like Giveon and Brent Faiyaz. Are they on to something about those artists being toxic? Maybe. Does that take away from these artists’ ability to make amazing music? Absolutely not.
Avenoir‘s new track “Shameless” definitely has its fair share of toxic lines but is equally moody as it is player. Despite being the Canadian singer’s third release, Avenoir already shows a unique ability to balance acute attention to detail and the woozy yet dense sound that catches you instantly.
