It’s been a busy week in the music industry with a lot of singles and projects releasing, but don’t let that distract you from the smaller artists deserving their flowers. The Queens-bred artist Lexa Gates has been making a name for herself, creating and promoting her music in a way that makes her stand out. Receiving co-signs from the likes of SZA, Tony Schhnow, and more, Lexa has been keeping her foot on the gas this year in regard to releasing music and increasing her fanbase.

Lexa Gates consistency is like no other, recently releasing a new single titled “Provider.” Unleashing her true colors, Lexa emphasizes her independence along with her work ethic, creating a lifestyle that can be quite tiring. Rapping over a production that includes a throwback sample, Lexa does her thing, gliding with her extended lyricism and a flow that complements the production itself. Standing out from other female artists in the scene, Lexa’s tone and story-telling are unique, creating music that has replay value and is even timeless.

Bold is the word I would use to describe Lexa Gates, making her presence known and keeping her fans anticipating the next release. The last month in the music scene has blessed us with so much great music that It’s almost the standard now. With the privilege of hearing new music, it also means that we get to discover new artists along the way based on personal recommendations. That’s how I came across a hidden gem by the name of GoVanni!, hailing from Houston. His newest single “Rimowa,” is one of the best songs I’ve heard this year by far.

Digging into GoVanni!’s catalogue, he’s pulling good numbers, having 38K monthly listeners on Spotify along with 18K followers on Instagram. The production, accompanied by Ginseng and 555kenichi, initially caught my attention and that set the tone for GoVanni! to work his magic. The video game-like melody is like nothing I’ve ever heard before, blending with the hard-hitting 808’s. GoVanni! brought his energy to match the intense and fast-paced production, establishing a catchy hook with an angelic flow.

I am just beyond impressed with GoVanni!, bringing something new to the table and being himself. If you don’t know now, you better get familiar.

I encounter several IG reels daily, consisting mainly of artists looking to disperse their music and expand their fanbase. Usually I just mind my business and scroll away but I stumbled upon an artist by the name of Scotty Apex, an artist I’ve learned that I share quite a few mutual followers with. Scotty did what a lot of artists don’t do(but should) is by making sure the catchiest part of the song is what the consumer hears first along with phenomenal visuals to compliment the track I found, “ROCKETMAN.”

Learning that we have some mutual followers, I decided to dig deeper into his catalogue and learn more about the man himself, Scotty Apex. The Indiana-native showcases raw and real vocals over this ambient and 80’s-like production creating a masterpiece in the meantime. Backed by one of highest quality music videos I’ve seen, both Scotty & director Jay Vision have perfect creative chemistry mixing both of their innovative styles to create a movie. The chorus is one that hits the soul with Scotty emphasizing the drive and desire to want it all and to hold onto those goals.

I believe that I am early to the Scotty Apex wave and I strongly encourage everyone to listen to “ROCKETMAN,” as your first listen.

There are several hidden gems in the music scene that I have yet to see receive their flowers. Some of my most notable and personal favorites include Kevin Kazi, Meiiny, and many more but an artist that I’ve been beyond impressed with is rari kari, hailing from Nashville. My rotation of music often fluctuates due to either lack of replay value or new discoveries. With that being said, rari kari has found her way to my rotation this last year with songs including “HOME,” “ISSEY,” and most recently “Heart Attack,’ to name a few.

Speaking of rari kari’s most recent release, “Heart Attack,” we’re welcomed with an intense and energetic production thanks to phenomenal producer BritBoyBeats. Kari has been teasing this track on her social media platforms for quite some time and I have been ready for this one. The best way to describe kari’s vocals are angelic, giving the listener a euphoric experience, especially on this track.

It’s safe to say that Rari Kari is on her way to the top, gaining the likes and recognition from artists such as Trippie Redd, Zelly Ocho, and more. I am excited to see what’s in store for her as her fanbase has been growing.
