Boundaries Is The Word Of The Day

I am a very particular soul. I get frustrated and sent into a frenzy of emotion when something breaks my focus. And I don’t think it’s just me. The population has to deal with the same reality, just altered a bit from place to place. So I cannot mask the noise as an excuse. But there’s a line between peace and work that never needs to be crossed. The music industry is the worst when it comes to this “never rest” mindset and it continues getting worse by the day. And this toxic mindset allows people to think it’s okay to text me at 1 am in the morning. Bro there are two people who are not on DND, my Girlfriend and the EIC of Daily Chiefers. So if you’re expecting some sort of prompt response, not gonna happen. I’ll see when I hit you back when the sun’s back up. And for the response, “Money doesn’t sleep”, I am not money, I’m a person.

Kakuyon – Same Kind

Kakuyon has been making a frequent amount of noise on our pages over the last few months and it’s truly wild to see how his music is evolving. The sounds are miraculous, billowing throughout the nature he always showcases in his videos. It’s almost as if there’s some sort of metaphor for the music having no ceiling. “Same Kind” was directed by Juan Madrid, who absolutely snapped. Overall Kakuyon is sure to have a stellar 2023, so get hip to the wave.

K Tec – Hammer

This one was sent to me by a good bro, and from the start the energy is infectious. K Tec‘s “Hammer” unleashes a feeling unlike any other when it comes to the strums of the guitar. Then building around that is the billowing percussion that allows Tec to float atop. His tonality reminds the ear of that quintessential Southern Rap sound, but with unwavering confidence. K Tec‘s got some shit here, get hip.

ArmstrongWW – Recovery

Houston’s own ArmstrongWW has an amalgamation of talents and they are showcased on this opus called Recovery. It’s a melding of Rap and R&B, but still shines on it’s own in a modern world of over-saturated sounds. From the gentle opening on “Hello Earth” to “Run!” with Domain Brown, this precise, soulful offering doesn’t lack moments to fall in love with. Instead, it exudes passion and clarity, two things one can only find when they’re truly recovering. This one is worth the listen.

FarrellB – fwtstm

A familiar sample brought me to this one, but the visuals are truly astounding. FarrellB tip-toes into this one called “fwtstm” and it essentially starts off completely different than would think from a production standpoint. With the initial introduction, I take note of the vivid colors and slowed tempo. Then this develops into a rich soundscape in which the mind can delve into the madness. Not overdoing the pitch correction, Farrell stays in the pocket and gifts the world a memorable cut. With direction from uthermoon, this one is worth taking the time. Get acquainted above.
