Massachusetts hyperpop duo Brevin Kim gives us the long-awaited visual for “Manzanita St.” off their 2020 EP, no less than threeThis has to be one of my favorite records from that project and shows these brothers fantastic songwriting and knack for melodies. They reminisce about a relationship that fizzled out on this record but still can recall the little nuances from it. Lines such as “She likes me for me, and I still wonder why, ‘Cause I know she could have anyone. Please don’t wake me up from this dream, ‘Cause if this is dreaming, then I like being asleep” illuminate the emotions that everyone feels when they are madly in love. Not to mention the song is just catchy as hell, and it’s a refreshing take on a pop record.

This is Brevin Kim‘s first collaboration with music video juggernauts Overcast, and it’s one for the books. The plot is focused on the duo running through an abandoned mining town looking for a girl with a key. These symbolic elements are open to interpretation, which I always enjoy in a music video. The shots in the mining shaft are amazing, I love the framing and the depth. All in all, this a great visual for a song that needed one, with that being said, stream the gas below.
