It doesn’t take the brightest person to figure out that the legalization of marijuana would make pot arrests plummet. We always knew the jist of it, but today we finally receive the stats — with a report on Colorado’s post-legalization arrest data.
Basically, the results are:
- Marijuana possession charges are down by more than 90 percent.
- Cultivation charges are down by 96 percent.
- Weed distribution charges are down by a whopping 99 percent.
According to DPA, “The number of marijuana possession charges in Colorado courts has decreased by more than 25,000 since 2010 – from 30,428 in 2010 to just 1,922 in 2014.”
The largest number — and pretty much the only number — of cases revolve around smoking in public, which is still illegal in Colorado.
Yay, go stoners!
