During the recording for the 2014 BET Hip-Hop Awards, which airs live October 14th, Jay Electronica joined Common & Vince Staples on stage for the first ever performance of their remix to “Kingdom.”
The original, No I.D.-produced single appeared on Common’s epic tenth studio album, Nobody Smiling.
According to The Boom Box, the three were backed by a beautiful choir and at the end of their performance, joined hands with the parents of teen Mike Brown for a moment of silence in his honor.
At this point we are not sure if the release of the CDQ version will happen before the BET Hip-Hop Awards, but we will keep you updated as the situation unfolds. Roll up.
