The road for GoldLink has been extremely interesting to watch. Within a span of a year, the DMV native has garnered a lot of attention from important names in the music industry — namely Rick Rubin and his luscious beard. For his first show at Electric Circus’ The Players Ball in New York, executives from Nas’ Mass Appeal Records and 300 representative Kevin Liles, among many more, were all in attendance to see the young cat perform.
GoldLink’s buzz can be traced back to August 2013. With focused social media strategies, the 21-year-old emcee began his reign as “The God Complex” — without ever showing his. Fast forward to 2015, media outlets such as Complex, Beats Music and many other co-signed his brand of music — crowning him the inventor of “bounce rap.”
To sum it all up, GoldLink is pretty much 2015’s version of Andre 3000 — very quiet and very talented. Mark my words, you WILL know about GoldLink this coming year.
