Waking up and finding out your charges are getting dropped has to be the best way to start your day. Derek Wise, a member of Toronto’s Get Home Safe collective and who also affiliated with The Weeknd‘s XO crew, announced today that the 15 charges that he has been fighting since 2014 have officially been dropped.

To celebrate, the Canadian rapper liberated a new single entitled “Had To Wake Up.” Rapping over some raunchy but smooth production from Geoff Wood, Wise’s hypnotizing flow and rhymes paint a vivid picture of the troubles he has endured the past year. Now that Wise is “awake,” he can get back to focusing on his rap career and putting out dope music.
