Throughout 2021, we’ve seen great success from independent artists. DMV artist DMV LilShawn is a promising act to put your money on, especially with the release of his debut EP, The One. LilShawn carries the theme of being eccentric throughout the entirety of the project. Coming from areas such as the DMV, Shawn has no other choice but to separate himself from his peers and even competitors. My personal favorite tracks off the tape have to be “The Morning,” “FENDI,” and “Not Ordinary,” which all shed light on stepping outside of your comfort zone.
