Thebe is one of those few artists who can roll out their music in such a minimalistic manner but make such a worldly impact. Mr. Kgositsile, also known as Earl Sweatshirt, has been heralded as one of the critic’s favorites, but he’s the golden child of a lost generation with his new album Some Rap Songs. We look to Earl as a modern shaman to share his travels and prophetic outlooks on our modern grim realities. To get 15 tracks from this young man is a pure blessing considering we haven’t had a whole project of his since 2015. Quenching our thirst here and there, Earl will always catch our attention with anything he drops. The instrumentation on here is full of richly chopped samples while Earl unloads the clip. We’re not here to pick anything apart, this is simply hip-hop’s greatness. Enjoy an ominous look through a genius mind, this one is unhinged vivacity.
