Seattle-based producer Eric G of 9th Wonder’s Jamla camp teams up with city-sharing spitter Mackned for the quick and dirty EP Atlantis. Easily heard throughout the 6 track runtime are accessible personal narratives from Mackned laid over smoothed out sample and synth washes from Eric. Combined the duo lands somewhere near a Pacific Northwest flavored outcome akin to what Freddie Gibbs and Madlib offered on Pinata, but with enough personality to paint the duo as their own enticing combination that we need another project from in the near future. Quick pick highlights point towards the cascading dazzle of “Vegas” and seemingly open and honest introspection of “Overnight.”
