Growing up in Florida, I have always had to pay attention to my surroundings. Every nook and cranny of the Earth was examined by my own two eyes. That’s why I have so much respect for any Florida artist. They usually have a story to tell. Enter Jacksonville rapper Nate DAE.

Located in North Florida, Jax rapper Nate DAE has been steadily making his climb through the underground ranks, working with the likes of BRCKHAMPTON, Tobin Supreme, Stokely Carmichael and many others.

Now, with 2016 coming to a close, the Florida-via-Los Angeles talent is finally release to share something special for the fans. Giving us the exclusive nod, DC favorite Nate DAE is taking to social media today to announce his long-awaited project, BLACK OUT, which is slated to release sometime in the next year.

Along with the official announcement, we also took some time out to speak with Nate on his upcoming release, what got him started in hip-hop, growing up in Florida and much more. Check out the Q&A below, and stay tuned for more information regarding the forthcoming album. Enjoy!

Where are you currently located? And Where is your hometown located?

South Central in Los Angeles, California is where I’m currently located but I was born and raised in the one and only Jacksonville, Florida.

What projects are you currently working on? And when’s the expected release date? Also, any particular features we should know about?

BLACK OUT the MIXTAPE. I was working on my debut album and was going to release that next but decided that I wanted to have some fun before. Plus the jump from sound to sound I think is too much for my fans at the current moment. So mixtape before album it is.

The expected release date is definitely like the 3rd week in January. Or first week in FEBRUARY… No later. If it doesn’t come out from either of those dates I said, I will forever be a bitch. Hold me to it.
Imma let y’all hear the features (IF THERE ARE ANY) on the tape when it drops 😉

How long have you been working on the project?

The mixtape? A couple weeks. The album? Been working on that since the day I stepped foot in LA, September 1st. The album almost done to be honest. I just put it on a hold right now because I wanna drop this quick mixtape for the fans. They asked for it so that’s what they’re getting. Anything my fans want, I am their slave. What they say, goes.

How did moving to LA affect the process of creating the album?

The entire sound of the album is a complete switch from the Florida sound I grew up on and the sound that Florida has today. Creating in LA for me, the process is hella fast because I have more resources and studios at my disposal. This is the fastest I’ve ever had 9/12 songs done for an album…. Oh shit, I’m leaking info and shit hahahaha.

Whats the plans after the album?

Go on tour and stack my bread. Then onto the next album or mixtape or project that I’m currently doing. I wanna do a short film after the album cause I got mad ideas and the vision for one. I directed my last video “REST” and got the craziest response from it so I think imma go ahead and do that again because it’s so easy to me.

Last, but not least, Nate had this to say:

“Oh and also, NATHANIEL CARMICHAEL…. a. COLLAB mixtape from WE WERE NEVER FRIENDS and my brother Stokely CARMICHAEL. We been working on it on the low for a minute but still have a lot to do. Shits gon be flames forreal but that’s all imma say for now.

OFF THE PORCH OUT NOW & “REST” on iTUNES, SPOTIFY, AND APPLE MUSIC NOWWWW. GO GET THAT

S/O JOEY FOR HAVING A NIGGA BACK SINCE BEFORE ALL MY SHIT STARTED POPPIN.

WE WERE NEVER FRIENDS 2017 … IM OUT… AHHHHH!”
