Although most consider Frank Ocean‘s Blonde album to be one of the best projects in 2016, it looks like Frank Ocean purposely sat out the The GRAMMYs year, according to his recent interview with the New York Times. In the Interview, Frank opened up on why he’s boycotting the GRAMMYs this year, what happened over at Def Jam and much more. Check out what he had to say:
“That institution certainly has nostalgic importance. It just doesn’t seem to be representing very well for people who come from where I come from, and hold down what I hold down.
I think the infrastructure of the awarding system and the nomination system and screening system is dated. I’d rather this be my Colin Kaepernick moment for the Grammys than sit there in the audience.”
So it seems that Frank Ocean is making a stand. I wonder who will join. Stay tuned for more information.
