If you are already hip to Godspeed, then you are one of the early ones well aware of the gems these kids pump out. The illusive dynamic duo consisting of creative geniuses, Ryan West and Nate Miles, blow the term “pop triumph” out of the water with their new single, “Don’t Be.” In fact, it has quickly become one of my favorite records to come out of 2020.

With a sound comparable to The 1975, their unique atmospheric production woven around Ryan’s crisp catchy vocal generates a full-body experience that honestly gives me goosebumps every time.

After officially starting to release music last year, Godspeed pays tribute to the idea that “less is more” offering only two records since; but for good reason. Taking pride in the sheer sonic perfection of every single record, Godspeed spends countless hours experimenting in the booth leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to flesh out every track fully. With that said, it has certainly been time well spent and you can expect this summer to be a summer of singles as the young stars now have an entire catalog of hits ready for fans’ anxious ears.

After speaking with brilliant vocalist, Ryan West, about where his head was at while he was writing this iconic hit he gave us some incredible insight:

“Don’t Be” was built off an idea that Nate had for years. In fact, the song itself took us over a year to finally perfect. To me, it’s about the perpetual trial of loneliness, especially after experiencing loss. Throughout the record I am basically asking myself a ton of questions about my own mental state and identity in the middle of a huge transition in my life.

Fans of The 1975 will definitely fall in love with Godspeed. If you haven’t had a chance to hear them yet be sure to check out their newest offering, “Don’t Be,” below!
